Let's make this zumbathon the biggest and best South East London has seen!

This blog post is dedicated to our Zumbathon on Sunday 1st December, mainly because we want to make this event one of the biggest and best South East London has seen.

Choosing to raise money for Cancer Research UK felt like an obvious choice given that I lost a member of my extended family to cancer this year and a very close friend of Dommy's was diagnosed with breast cancer just a few months ago. Often when we learn that someone we care about is sick, one of the most difficult things to handle is the feeling of helplessness. When a member of our class recently came to us with the devastating news that her dad had been diagnosed with cancer, she asked us if we would consider hosting a zumbathon because she was determined to make a difference, to which of course we answered, 'Yes!'

We've been running Just Dance UK for three and a half years now, and in that time, we have been lucky enough to meet some of the most wonderful people along the way. People who are accountants, teachers, solicitors and doctors (Carley - we always feel particularly safe when you're in a class with us!) actors, artists, writers, fashion designers, full-time mums (we salute you!) and plain ol’ dance addicts. You get yourselves to class no matter how crazy your life gets, you use dance as an extension of your creativity, you come to class because you recognise that 'me time' is just as important as family time and of course, there's lots of you who see dance as an absolute necessity and without it, something just doesn't feel quite right. People from all walks of life dance with us each week and we would absolutely LOVE to see as many of you come together on Sunday 1st December, not only to raise money, but to celebrate the dance community that YOU have created.

Where: Sydenham High School, 19 Westwood Hill, SE26 6BL
When: Sunday 1st December 2013
Time: 14.30-16.30
Price: £12 (children are welcome along for a donation to Cancer Research UK)

There will be a live drummer, a raffle with some awesome prizes (including a Just Dance Monthly pass worth £40!) wonderful guest zumba instructors as well as all your favourite zumba classics with a party twist!

The best way to buy tickets is directly from either myself or Dommy before or after any of our walk-in classes. If you are unable to make it to a class, you can pay for your ticket online via our Just Giving Page, just be sure to leave your full name along with your £12 ticket donation so that we can keep your name and ticket on the door for you to pick up on the day.

If you can't make it along to the zumbathon on 1st December but would like to make a donation, we would be so grateful if you could head over to our Just Giving page: http://www.justgiving.com/JustDanceUK. ALL proceeds from this event are going directly to Cancer Research UK.
